Let’s Work Together

Abraham Lincoln was glumb
Robert E. Lee was a plumb
One wanted the right
The other to fight
They marched to the beat of thr’ own drum

Abe was a frontier bloke
About good laws he spoke
With Congress he sat
Chewing the fat
Wanting to free the slave folk

He wanted to free all the slaves
he had to be courageously brave
For about his cause
He created some laws
The South thought he was a knave

Robert E. Lee was a dandy
He liked to drink wine and brandy
He rose in the ranks
He didn’t use blanks
With a gun he was so handy

He was a Virginian man
Stick with Virginia, he can
He’ll never stray
Till he gets his way
Creating his battlefield plan

So against one another they fought
Using the strategies they taught
If one side won
The other’d be done
Leaving us to deal with the lot

We can all learn from this story
That one persons might isn’t glory
If we all combine
Life will be fine
Fighting and war is too gory
